History
The Vocational Training Institute for Women, Buffer zone, Karachi, is the pioneer Women’s Technical Training Institute established in the year 1983 by the Sindh government under the Labour Department. The Institute provides pre-employment skills training to women aged between 18 years to preferably 35 years. The Institute has been part of National Vocational Training Project, Sindh Skills Development Project and has been in partnership with International Donors CIDA, World Bank, GIZ and ILO.
Strong linkages have been established with the Business/ Industry, NGOs, Labour/ community organizations for providing market driven courses, value addition in the training programs as well as financial assistance in terms of scholarship to the deserving trainees. The graduates are employed in the relevant fields of IT, Architecture, Office Administration, Dress Making & Designing and Beautician, Child Day Care.
